KAWAI The Variety of a Digital Piano: Convenience & Flexibility
Complementing the instrument’s superb Responsive Hammer II keyboard action and expressive Progressive Harmonic Imaging grand piano sound, the CP3 offers an excellent selection of digital features that further enhance one’s musical enjoyment. In addition to stunning acoustic piano sounds, the CP3 also includes over 700 outstanding instrumental and vocal sounds, and hundreds of professionally arranged backing accompaniment styles to suit any genre of music.

The powerful recorder function allows up to 16 tracks to be recorded and mixed from the intuitive touch panel interface, and effortlessly saved as WAV or MP3 audio files, while the integrated classical etudes and Alfred course books ensure that regular practise is both productive and engaging for aspiring pianists.
KAWAI Rich sound selection
Hundreds of studio quality instrumental and vocal sounds, plus dozens of sound effects, offer the player a vast selection of sound choices from virtually every instrument family in the world.

In addition to exquisite acoustic pianos, players will discover amazing electric pianos, authentic pipe and drawbar organs, lush strings, thrilling woodwinds and brass, contemporary guitars and basses, drums and percussion and much more.

With powerful 192 note polyphony, up to three sounds can be combined together or assigned to individual sections of the keyboard, allowing advanced, multi-voice performances at the touch of a button.

KAWAI Alfred Inside!
The CP3 comes with the first year’s lesson songs from Alfred Publishing’s Basic Piano Course 1, Premier Course 1 and Adult Course 1 built in. We’ve also included the printed music and recordings for time-tested finger exercises such as scales, arpeggios and Hanon songs.

Kawai digital pianos are the only instruments with Alfred lesson songs built into them*. With the built-in lesson songs, a student can listen to the instructional song being played by an Alfred staff pianist. The student can follow along with the lesson book** to learn how the piece is supposed to sound. The student can slow the song down and play along, even muting the recorded left-hand or right-hand parts to practice hands separately (a common practice technique). The student can also record his or her performance and then compare it to the built-in performance.

** Alfred books are sold separately.

KAWAI Flexible USB connectivity
The CP3 is equipped with modern USB connectors that not only allow the instrument to be connected to a computer for MIDI use, but also to load and save data to USB memory devices directly.

This latter USB to Device functionality allows favorite instrument settings, registrations, and memorable recorder songs stored within internal memory to be safely preserved on USB flash drives, or for standard MIDI files (SMF) downloaded from the internet to be played back and enjoyed using the instrument’s exquisite Harmonic Imaging XL sounds without additional hardware or cables.
KAWAI MP3/WAV Playback & Record
USB memory devices can also be used to play back MP3 or WAV audio files, allowing musicians to learn the chords or melody for a new piece, or to simply play along with their favorite songs.

It is even possible to record entire performances (including external line-in and microphone audio) directly as MP3 or WAV audio files for sharing with family and friends, sending to band members, or casual listening away from the piano.
KAWAI Varied connectivity options
In addition to USB to Host and USB to Device connectors, the CP3 also features standard MIDI terminals and industry standard LINE-level input and output audio jacks.

These varied connectivity options allow the instrument to be enjoyed in larger settings, such as churches and halls, while also providing greater flexibility when using computers, tablets, and other digital audio devices.
KAWAI Concert Magic
This exclusive feature lets anyone enjoy the thrill of playing the piano, even if you’ve never played before.

Do you wish you could play the piano, but never learned? Playing a musical instrument, especially the piano, is a dream that most people have. Yet, very few have managed to realize that dream... until now.

To help make the dream a reality, Kawai developed Concert Magic – an exciting feature that allows everyone, even non-players, to experience the thrill of playing real music. Concert Magic is an intelligent, interactive system that makes playing songs incredibly simple and fun.

KAWAI Built-in lesson & finger exercises

The CP3’s convenient lesson function allows aspiring pianists to learn piano with classical Czerny, Burgmüller, Beyer, Bach, and Beethoven, etudes, or a collection of songs from the popular Alfred’s Basic, Adult, and Premier course books.

With a strong emphasis on acoustic piano realism, the CP2 also features traditional finger exercises, scales, and warm-up drills, and includes companion books for all classical scores to further aid one’s piano development.

    * Included score books dependent on market location.

    * Alfred lesson books sold separately.
KAWAI iPad connectivity & apps
Connecting the CP3 to an iPad using a USB cable or wirelessly allows players to extend the instrument’s functionality with a wide range of education, performance, and scoring apps.

A dedicated Virtual Technician app is also freely available, providing an enjoyable way to learn about and adjust the Concert Performer’s various characteristics from an attractive touch interface.

* Quicco Sound mi.1 Bluetooth MIDI device required for wireless connectivity.

KAWAI Grand Feel Pedal System
Reinforcing the Concert Performers’ reputation as some of the most realistic digital pianos available is Kawai’s Grand Feel Pedal System. This unique feature replicates the individual weighting of the damper, soft, and sostenuto pedals of the EX concert grand pianos to further enhance the CP3’s acoustic-like authenticity.

Moreover, it is also possible to adjust the half-pedal sensitivity of the damper pedal, and effectiveness of the soft pedal using specially engineered Virtual Technician parameters, allowing pianists to personalize the instrument’s response to match their individual pedaling technique.
KAWAI Professional accompaniment styles

With hundreds of professionally arranged and recorded accompaniment styles immediately available to become a personal backup band or orchestra, players will discover styles from virtually every genre of popular music – from Swing to Big Band to Rock, Pop, Show Tunes, Oldies, Latin, Jazz, and Orchestral styles.

Furthermore, the intuitive Style Conductor allows players to rearrange musical parts to create their own custom version of any style. From complete novices to seasoned players, the Concert Performer’s comprehensive Styles function has the capability of transforming musical performances, helping both existing repertoires and new songs to sound complete and professional.
KAWAI Easy or Advanced recording
The CP3’s flexible recorder function offers two methods of capturing performances.  Easy Recorder mode allows musicians to capture their playing or sudden inspiration at any moment simply by pressing the Record button on the instrument’s intuitive control panel.

For more complicated performances, the Advanced Recorder provides a full-featured 16-track MIDI recorder that includes many of the same professional features found on dedicated MIDI sequencing devices, such as punch-in and punch-out, individual note editing, and full volume/panning/effect adjustments.
KAWAI Personalized piano adjustments
A skilled piano technician can personalize an acoustic piano’s sound and touch response. Kawai’s exclusive Virtual Technician does the same for the CP3 digital piano.

The knowledge and skill of an experienced piano technician is essential to bring out the best of a fine acoustic piano. In addition to tuning each note, the technician also performs numerous regulation and voicing adjustments that allow the instrument to truly sing.

The CP3’s powerful Virtual Technician function simulates these refinements digitally, allowing discerning musicians to shape aspects of the selected piano’s character to suit their personal preferences.

Perform touch weight and voicing adjustments, regulate hammer and key release noises, and fine-tune string, damper, and cabinet resonances.  It is even possible to adjust the precise tuning, volume, and character of individual notes – all in real-time.
KAWAI DIGITAL CP3 Series Digital Piano
The World's Most Advanced Digital Pianos
Kawai CP3 Uses The Responsive Hammer (RHII) Graded-Hammer Piano Action
The Touch of a Grand Piano: Responsive Hammer II keyboard action: The CP3’s Responsive Hammer II keyboard action recreates the supreme touch of an acoustic grand piano, with its realistic movement and rigid, springless design providing a smooth and natural piano playing experience.

The instrument’s triple-sensor key detection system enhances responsiveness and accuracy, while structural reinforcements throughout the action assembly help to minimize noise and key wobble during staccato and fortissimo passages.

As one of the world’s premier builders of acoustic pianos, Kawai has long understood the importance of an instrument’s touch, or “feel”, to the player. Without a keyboard action that responds perfectly to an artist’s commands, a piano would not accurately create the sound that the artist is seeking.
