KAWAI The Variety of a Digital Piano: Convenience & Flexibility
Featuring Kawai's famous wooden-key action, the CE220 digital piano offers the finest touch available in a digital piano. With 88-key piano sampling, plus a rugged, yet beautiful cabinet, the CE220 is a great choice in a high-quality digital piano.

The CE220 digital piano utilizes the critically acclaimed AWA Grand Pro II keyboard action, employing longer, real wooden keys for an unsurpassed acoustic piano feel.

The CE220 digital piano captures the beautiful sound of Kawai’s highly acclaimed hand-built concert grand piano, with all 88 keys of this exceptional instrument meticulously recorded, analyzed and faithfully reproduced using  proprietary Progressive Harmonic Imaging™  technology.

KAWAI Additional sounds & playing modes
Supplementing the realistic acoustic piano voices, the CE220 digital piano also features an excellent selection of additional instrument sounds, ranging from electric pianos and drawbar and church organs, to strings, brass, and woodwind instruments, inviting musicians to add greater variety to their performances.

Furthermore, the Dual playing mode also allows two different sounds, such as grand piano and strings, to be layered together, while the Split and Four Hands modes divide the keyboard into two independent sections. The volume balances for each playing mode can also be adjusted quickly and easily using the real-time balance slider.
KAWAI Studio Quality Sounds
There are a total of 22 higher quality instrument sounds on this piano including realistic string symphonies, church & Jazz B3 organs, choirs, guitar, etc, along with 100 realistic sounding drum patterns such as jazz, rock, waltz, big band, Latin, country and boogie which are not only a lot of fun to play along with, but help piano students to better understand rhythm and timing which are the most difficult things in music to learn.

KAWAI Keyboard Modes
The CE220 has both a Dual Mode, in which two sounds are played at the same time, and a Split mode, in which one sound plays on the left side of the keyboard and another sound plays on the right side.

A special 4-Hands Mode creates two identical 44-note pianos on the keyboard – great for piano lessons or for duets. A convenient Balance Slider on the panel controls the volume balance in a Dual or Split keyboard mode.

The AWA PROII Digital Piano Action

KAWAI CE220 Series AWA PROII Piano Action
Kawai CE220 Uses the AWA PROII Wooden-key Action

The AWA PROII action features extra-long wooden keys and a mechanical design similar to that found in Kawai’s acoustic grand pianos. The extended length of the wooden key allows for a pivot point in the middle of the key. This creates movement on both ends of the keys and pushes the hammers in an upward motion from the back of the key (same as in a grand piano action).

Kawai AWA PROII Digital Piano Action

The hammer weights are graded in the same fashion as that of the AHA IV actions. Additionally, the bass keys have a counterbalancing weight placed underneath the front of the key. This creates a more even static key weight, which is the goal of counterbalancing the actions of fine acoustic grand pianos. The result of all these efforts is a digital piano action that is simply the finest digital piano action available, and one that has received numerous accolades and awards.

No matter which action you choose, you are sure to get an instrument whose touch is thoroughly responsive and satisfying, and one that is superior to that of any other instrument in its class.
